The Kanza Name Image

The Kanza Name

Like us, our name is rooted deeply in Kansas history. KANZA refers to a nation of Native Americans who inhabited Kansas and Oklahoma, the same name for which our state was named. KANZA Bank is more than just a name, but also a reflection of our institution’s heritage and our commitment to Kansas.

History

David Walter

One of the original founders of the State Bank of Kingman, David was the Bank's first vice president and the second president. His son-in-law was John Edgar Boyer, also one of the Bank's original founders. David came to Kansas in 1886 to rear his children in a prohibition state. By trade he was a miller, farmer and merchant, and in later years raised pure-bred poultry. David was the great great grandfather of our current leadership.
